Serum Staples

Hey guys,

A few weeks ago I mentioned I was trying a new face product, the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. I was originally using the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum and decided I wanted to try something new. It’s always more fun to try a new product than to keep buying the same old thing. I also picked up the Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment because i’m started to get some a few wrinkles around my eyes…womp womp.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum – I really like this product because it’s so light but extremely moisturizing. I have a dry face usually, and I can put this on and don’t even have to follow up with a moisturizer. It also made my skin very soft. One of the claims of the product is that it brightens and evens skin tone. I can’t say I have seen that result, though I have seen reviews where people say they have. The price tag on this product is really too much for me to purchase it again. I was willing to do so the first time because I was trading in another product for it and also had a coupon, so I will probably try out a new product when I run out.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum – I wanted to bring up this product again because it’s the best serum I have tried so far. Even when I’m trying out new ones, I tend to rotate it in with the other product after I finish the initial testing of the new product. While it’s not quite as moisturizing as the Caudalie serum, it does an incredible job brightening. This is a product that I will always keep on hand, and the price is better than the Caudalie as well.

Origins Plantscription Anti-aging eye cream – I wanted to be blown away by this product, but in truth it is just mediocre. I am starting to see wrinkles around by eyes, and I haven’t seen a big difference in them since using this product. At best they are smoothed out slightly, and I will say the skin around by eyes has been softer and more hydrated since using it. Even though this is just a little pot, it lasts forever. I’m going to continue to use it but will be trying a new brand once it runs out. I also received a deluxe sample of the Dr. Brandt Needs No More cream, so I will be trying that out and reviewing it soon!

Blush & Bling

Hey guys,

During my b-day haul I picked up a new blush and highlighter, and I’m absolutely loving them. I usually choose really pinky blushes but decided to switch it up with Taos by Nars. The highlighter I picked up was BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal.

Nars Taos Blush – The actual description of the product is “desert rose with shimmer”  but I find it more of a terra-cotta color. Like most Nars blushes, it’s extremely creamy and is a dream to blend. The pigment is also on point, so you have to be careful to not go overboard when you apply. I’ve had that issue a few times, but it’s easy to just blend it out more or to dab over it with a Beauty Blender. I’m pretty pale right now and think the color looks really nice which surprised me. I’m most excited for when I have a bit of a tan because I think the orangey tones and shimmer will look best with darker skin.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. – THis is my first BECCA product and it has sold me on the brand. I went in looking for the Rose Gold color, but it was out of stock so I decided to go with the one I’d heard the most about. I’m actually really happy that I was forced to get this one because it looks great with any skin tone, where I think the Rose Gold would look better with a tan or on a darker skin tone. As far as the actual product goes, it’s very easy to blend, has great pigment, and it’s easy to build up depending on how much of a glow you’re looking for.  As with any highlighter, especially one this pigmented, you want to be careful not to go overboard.

The Nars Taos is on the left and the Becca highlighter in Opal is on the right. I went really heavy on the Taos swatch so just remember you can go much lighter than that.

On Second Thought…

Hey guys,

Clearly i’ve been having a hard time finding time to post, but i’m making it a goal to post at least once a week starting… right now. Hold me to this please! It will most likely be a post later in the week because the beginning of the week is cray for me. I’m also making it a goal to learn how to edit videos. I’ve filmed a lot of tutorials with my new camera, but I’m so bad with computers and have been avoiding the editing process.

Anywho, my last post showed all the goodies I scooped up for my birthday, and I specifically mentioned how excited I was about the Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil. I really thought this product was going to be my holy grail, but after a few uses I broke out like crazy. I can’t lie, I’m crushed!

I decided to keep on using it even though I was breaking out just to see if my skin would get used to it, but no luck. It did an amazing job hydrating, felt awesome on my face, and had a nice subtle scent to it, so it really killed me to return it. If you don’t have sensitive skin and want an anti-aging/hydrating product, I would definitely recommend giving this oil a try.

If you have sensitive skin like me, I would recommend trying the Josie Maran Argan Milk. It’s a pretty similar product, but I had no problem with break outs or sensitivity. My mom actually bought this while I was home for Christmas break, and it’s what made me want to try different oils/serums.

Even though I love the Argan Milk, I thought it would be more fun to try a completely new product. I picked up the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and will be reviewing it soon!

Sephora Birthday Haul

Hey guys!

My Birthday was a few days ago, so last weekend T and I went to Jacksonville for my favorite thing ever, SHOPPING! We had a great day and went to a delicious dinner at Cantina Laredo, and of course I went cray in Sephora. These are the goodies I picked up, and I’ll review them in another post once I try them out for a bit.

Make Up Forever Artist Shadows – I picked up a trio of these a few days before going to Jax as a Bday present to myself. I loved them so much and was so excited to get more when we went over the weekend. They are the most pigmented shadows I have ever used and the matte shades are just amazing. There is a discount when you buy them in doubles or in the trio, but I will eventually stick them in a z palette. I”ll review these and do swatches in a later post, but let me know if you guys have questions before then!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal – I originally went in wanting the Rose Gold one, but the Jax Sephora didn’t have it in stock. I have to say though that this is an amazing highlighter and is probably the better color choice for winter. I will be picking up Rose Gold eventually though!

Bite Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Rambutan – This is a peachy nude and it’s actually a bit lighter than it looks in the picture. I always end up getting the same nude color over and over again in different formulas, so I was excited to try a different nude shade.

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base – I’ve wanted to get this product for so long, but I wanted to wait until I finished out my Too Faced one.

Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil – I bought this on a whim after reading some reviews. I originally was going to get the Josie Maran Argan Milk, but it’s always more fun to get something you haven’t tried before. *spoiler* – I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS

Nars Blush in Taos  – I actually picked this up from Nordstrom because it wasn’t available in Sephora. Again, the picture makes the color a little off and it’s more of a terracotta/pink mix. The true description is “desert rose with shimmer”.

Nars Lip Pencils in Cruella/Rikugien and Nars Larger Than Life Eye Pencil – This is the VIB Rouge Birthday gift for this year. It’s absolutely amazing and the best one yet in my opinion.

Diorshow New Look Mascara – I desperately needed mascara, and I had a really hard time deciding what to get. I picked up this one which i’ve used before and really liked.

Origins Plantsciption Anti-aging Eye Cream – This product got amazing reviews, and i’m so excited to see if it works for me! I haven’t used a lot of eye creams before, but it’s a good time to start.

Mac Fix+ – This was another product I had to get from Nordstrom. I got the smaller size to make sure I liked it and have been using it combined with my primer and after to set my makeup.

Beauty Blender – Yay! Finally bought this little gem.

Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown – I’ve been using dark brown for a while now,  but I wanted to try out the soft brown for days when I want a less drastic brow.

Smashbox Lipstick in Pout – Again, I wanted a nude that was different from the million others I have. This is also lighter than it appears in the picture and will pair nicely with the Bite gloss.

Sephora Pro Contour Brush #74 – You guys know how much I love these Sephora Pro’s. This one is for the Becca highlighter and it’s the perfect size.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I’ll have reviews up in the next few weeks!

2015 Beauty Wish List

Hey guys,

So i’ve talked in other posts about how important it is for me to have a wish list. If I don’t have one i’ll buy things I really don’t need/want. It’s also a way to control spending. After reading a million blog posts, watching youtube videos, and creeping hardcore on Sephora, i’ve come up with some beauty products that I really want to try in 2015. Of course this will probably change and new things will come out that I want to try, but it’s a good start and a way to organize my life. I also have my Birthday coming up in a week so of course i’ve already planned with T that we’re going to go shopping in Tampa or Jacksonville. So this list will come in handy muahaha! I used Polyvore to make this because i’m definitely a visual person.

Screen Shot 2015-01-06 at 10.56.19 AM

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base – I’ve used the Too Faced eye primer for a really long time. It’s worked great but i’m just kind bored and ready to try something new. I’ve heard amazing things about the Nars, and i’ve never been unhappy with any of their products.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Oil – Ok, so this isn’t exactly a new product, but it’s one I need to repurchase because i’m almost out. I’m so bummed I forgot to include it in my 2014 Beauty Favorites because it’s honestly my holy grail hair product and I can’t  live without it. It makes your hair sooo shiny but doesn’t make it greasy at all!

Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – I am so excited to try this product. Right now i’m using the Dior Star Foundation and I really like it, but i’m just ready to try something new. I was recommended this by my friend Brittany who also likes really dewy foundations, and I’ve also seen it a million times on Jaclyn Hill videos. I’ll probably wait to get this until i’m a little darker and need a new foundation color so I don’t waste he Dior.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold – I’m always on the hunt for the perfect highlighter, and I like that this color is so different from any others i’ve tried. I’ve never used a Becca product before, but I’ve heard really great things about the brand.

Living Proof Full Thickening Cream – I’m always on the search for big hair because my hair is flat as can be.  I currently use the Living Proof Full Shampoo and Conditioner and I really like it, so I imagine this product is pretty awesome as well. I’ll probably pick up the small size first to make sure I love it since I already have forty million volumizing products.

Origins Nightamins and Plantscriptions Eye Cream – I’m considering switching up my skin routine. I’m currently using the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, but it’s pricey and runs out way to quickly. I’ve heard great things about Origins and I definitely want to start using an eye cream.

BECCA Mineral Blush in Songbird – I have a lot of pinky/peachy/coral blushes, so I want to switch it up a bit and get a color i’ve never tried. This is considered a peachy pink but it’s definitely more on the orangey/pink side. I’ve also considered Nars Sin or Dolce Vita or one of the Make Up Forever HD blushes as well. I think going in and swatching will help me make a final decision.

Beauty Blender – I don’t know how I haven’t picked this up yet. I see it everywhere and it gets rave reviews. I currently just use the Sephora Pro Airbrush for both foundation and concealer, but if this is amazing like everyone says I might switch over.

Zoeva Brushes – I’ve stalked the Zoeva website a lot in the last few months, and I’m dying to try these brushes. Most of my brushes are the Sephora Pros, but the Zoeva’s get great reviews and they are a heck of a lot cheaper. I have a feeling the shipping is super expensive, but I might just have to go for it.

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in 60’s Pink – I’m always on the search for the perfect nude lipstick. I saw this on someone on the Sephora Beauty Board and I absolutely loved it. It’s more of a pinky nude, and the reviews say it’s moisturizing and pigmented. Sold!

Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk – Wahhh, I love this stuff. My mom bought it over Christmas break and I used it the whole time. I live in Florida currently where it’s nice and humid, so going back to PA for 3 weeks dryed out my skin sooo bad. This stuff completely saved it and made my skin feel amazing.

Formula X New Neutrals in Heart Stopping – Even though we’re just getting into winter, i’m constantly planning for /pretending it’s spring and summer. This is such a a great spring color and reminds me of Easter eggs!

That’s all i’ve got for now. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve tried any of these products before or if you have any products in mind you think are worth trying!

2014 Beauty Favorites

Hey guys,

I can’t believe this year is over! I’m sure you’re all tired of hearing that, but it really does blow my mind. I’ve used so many amazing products this year, and I decided I should narrow it down to 10 all time favs. These are products that I absolutely can’t live without and I feel could not be replaced by another brand/product.

Urban Decay Naked Palette – I’m sure you’re all tired of seeing this posted on my blog and a million other blogs, but it really is one of the best neutral palettes. All of the colors have amazing color payoff and blend like a dream. My favorite look with this is a smokey eye.

GLAMGLOW Thirstymud Mask – This product really saved me when I went to PA for three weeks during Christmas break. My skin was actually dying and crazy dry, so I stuck this baby on and it was a miracle. I still use this about every week or two in Florida because my skin is always really dry anyway and it just makes your skin feel amazing and hydrated.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black & White – I’ve never been so obsessed with a perfume before, and i’ve also never thought about combining two scents. These go together perfectly. The black is sweet and the white is floral, and they are amazing separately as well. The idea of a rollerball is also genus, and I’ll probably only be buying them from now on. They are great for travel/throwing in your purse, and they are so much cheaper.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl – Gawd this really is the prefect red for everyone, and the pencil makes it so much easier to apply. This has great staying power and is really pigmented as well.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy – Lippies really are my absolute fav so of course I had to put two different ones in this post. This is just an amazingly fun bright color. I wore it out on NYE so check out my NYE Glam post if you want to see it on. It looks more red in this pic but it’s actually a bright fuchsia. This was my first Urban Decay lipstick, and I should have known it would be amazing just like all of their other products. I will definitely be picking up more in the future. It feels amazingly hydrating on the lips and has great color pay off.

Formula X Nail Polish in Gemini – This was another product that appeared in my last post (NYE Glam). The Formula X line is amazing and stays on forever without chipping. I used to always go to the salon to get gels, but this is so much more convenient and a heck of a lot easier to get off.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla – This is the best concealer I’ve tried for under eye circles. It covers beautifully and doesn’t crease. I do set mine with powder because I live in Florida where it’s crazy humid and hot, but it’s so much better than anything else

Sephora Pro Blending Brush #27 – This brush is my baby, and I have three of them and want fifty more. It’s a bit fluffy in this pic because I gave it a bath earlier today. I use this mostly for blending shadows, but I’ve also loved it for my blending in my concealer and for bronzer when i’m contouring.

Beautyblender Blender Cleanser Solid – This brush cleaner is so quick and easy. You definitely have to still deep clean your brushes, but this is perfect for a quick wash and it’s really convenient for when you’re traveling.

Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown – I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT THIS! If you don’t have this you should go out and get it right now. It makes doing your brows sooo easy, and I think it gives a really natural look. I’m considering changing over to soft brown to make it even more natural, but I do like this color as well.

New Years Glam

Hey guys,

Hope you all had a fabulous New Years Eve! I went out with a few friends to Simon’s in Gainesville and we had a nice dinner/makeup sesh at T’s house before. I’ve spent most of today recovering which was really just me laying in bed watching SVU, so I figured it was time to get out of slug mode and post some pics/deets from last night.

For my eyes I used the Naked palette which is perfect for a smokey look. I used Virgin on the inner corners of my eyes and to highlight under my brow. Sidecar went all over the lid, then Hustle on the outer half/crease and Creep in the very outer corner and into the crease. I went back in with Half Baked at the end and added some to my inner corner (still leaving some Virgin to brighten the eye) and also lined my bottom lash line with it. I went back over my outer bottom lash line with Creep.

I used Stila liquid eyeliner in Black for my top lashes and Nars Larger Than Life Eyeliner in Black for my bottom outer lash line, and I used Givenchy Noir Couture Waterproof Mascara. I decided to get a little crazy and try false lashes for the first time. I absolutely loved them! I used the Ardell brand and found them at CVS. They were super easy to put on and stayed all night. I forgot to write down which ones they were unfortunately, but i’m pretty sure they were the fashion lashes. On my friends Jess and Melissa, I used the individual Ardell lashes. They were a lot trickier to put on, so I wouldn’t recommend going that route. The individuals are posted below. Sorry for the blurry pic!

And here is the lovely Jess while I’m putting on the individual lashes.

For my face makeup I used all of my regulars including Dior Star Foundation, Too Faced Primer, Nars Blush in Orgasm, Nars Bronzer in Laguna, and Anastasia Brow Wiz and Gel.

The lips were my favorite part of my whole look. I used Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy, and OMG I loveeeee it. The color payoff is amazing, and it’s a gorgeous bright fuchsia.

For my nails I went with Gemini by Formula X. If you read my blog a lot then you know i’m Formula X obssesed, and this is actually my favorite color of the line.
